About us

Grau Brewery is a brewery, based at Berging in The Osmoor. The company was founded on 6 May 1886 by Ilse Grau and has traded for 89 years.

Grau Brewery was established at Berging in the confident years of the last century and has never left. We supply ale and porter in cask, and bottled beer for the household to every region of the country and, by appointment, to the regiments. Our books are open to our shareholders and our doors to our customers.

Our founder. Ilse Grau, farmer, was born at Kessel on 28 August 1848 and died on 25 April 1909.

The firm supplies ale and porter in cask, and bottled beer for the household to the trade and the public. Carriage paid to any station.

Sold at Berging and through dealers in every region. The town has 3 other brewing houses; ours is the one with our name on it.

The company's books have been kept at Market Walk since the registered office was fixed there, and the timeline below is compiled from them and from the press.

1. 1886 The company is founded at Berging.
2. 1895 Grau Brewery lists on the Vellmar Exchange as TPP. In the press.
3. 1911 United Marsh Timber is acquired by Grau Brewery. In the press.
